IF A MOTHER COULD GIVE PURPLE HEARTS
…and he was well spoken of by the brethren who were in Lystra and Iconium. Act 16:2 {NASB}
“I went to the Friends and Family church tonight,” My eldest son told me excitedly. “And I liked what the pastor had to say.” Already sounding like they were long time acquaintances he continued, “And afterwards, Pastor Joe talked with me for 11/2 hours!”
I was overjoyed! Already plagued for years in his heart and mind with guilt and condemnation, my son also had been searching for honest answers to the confusing world’s ideals and how they were being addressed in the church. Expecting to hear no bull in the pulpit or to have his ears tickled, my son ended up visiting different churches in the area approaching the pastors about his concerns. With no fault of their own they offered little conciliation or the time needed to counsel my son. With frustration intensifying during his quest for truth the little faith he clung to was beginning to fade. Recognizing that the Lord had placed this special assignment in Joe Kirkwood’s heart, my son was encouraged and inspired by pastor Joe's words, setting him free from torment, but also healing old wounds between mother and son.
“And what made you decide to go to Joe Kirkwood’s church?” I asked my son, yearning to go myself.
“I heard good things about him.”Added October 24, 2016 by Mary Toll
